This Week by Principal Amy Alzina
Monday, November 17th – Friday, November 21st is our Parent-Student-Teacher Conference Week. Your child’s teacher will be sending home your assigned conference time next week. Please look for it in your child’s backpack.
Adams Food Drive
All students are encouraged to bring cans and boxes of food to their classroom each morning and help reach our goal of collecting 2000 food items to be donated to the Santa Barbara Unity Shoppe. The Food Drive begins Monday, November 3 – Monday, November 17.
All School Turkey Trot Run
Adams Thanksgiving Turkey Trot run will be Friday, November 21st beginning at 9:00am. All parents are invited to watch their children try to catch a turkey on the playground (The Teachers).
Chaucer’s Book Drive
Please come to Chaucer’s Bookstore on November 20th from 7-9pm. Chaucer’s donates 25% of all sales back to Adams Elementary School during this event. Many thanks to Adams parent, Serena Weddle, for coordinating this fun night!
ELAC Posada Meeting
Last year, our English Language Learner Committee (ELAC) put together a fabulous cultural event for our students, Posada. Our ELAC wants to make it even more fantastic this year by involving every parent of an English Language Learner. All parents are invited to come to an informational meeting in Spanish on November 19th at 8:30am in the auditorium.
There is no school Monday, November 24-Friday, November 28.
Minimum Day FRIDAY
Friday, November 14th marks the end of our first trimester. Therefore, all students will be dismissed at 12:00pm.
Junior Achievement Day at Adams
Many thanks to our community partners at Bank of the West and First Bank for supporting banking lessons in all of our 3rd-4th grade classrooms last Wednesday.
Student Council Elections
All of our 4-6th grade students will be casting their votes for student government after all the candidates have had an opportunity to give their speech in front of the student body this Friday, November 14th. I am very proud of all of our candidates for being courageous enough to run for an elected position. Their courage is the first step towards being a leader! Our student government advisor is Ms. Barr.
