School is out for summer
See you back at school Wednesday, August 27th!

Accelerated Reader
We did it! We finished the school year reading over 45,000 Accelerated Reader books, which equates to 137,915,549 words!

Construction at Adams
Our campus is closed for the summer due to the major construction at Adams. We will be demolishing four portable classrooms in order to make room for our new Library and Computer Lab. Thank you for voting “YES” on Measures Q and R as they are funding this project and many others throughout our district.

FREE Summer Breakfast and Lunch Program for ALL Students
All children ages 18 and younger can be served FREE Breakfast from 8-9:00am and Lunch from 11:00-1:00pm at Franklin Elementary School, Monroe Elementary School Parque De Los Ninos, Westside Neighborhood Center and La Cumbre Jr. High School.

Summer Reading at the SB Library
Every student is welcome to come to any branch of the Santa Barbara Public Library and sign up for the “Fizz, Boom, READ!” Summer Reading Program. This free program runs from Tuesday, June 10 through Thursday, July 31. Kids can earn great prizes and attend free family events, including performances with magicians, music, puppets & balloons!

Go to or visit your local public library for more information.

Family Bike Night a Success
Many thanks to our PE specialist, Julie Churchman, for coordinating our event and our ELAC parents for providing the wonderful tostadas. It was such a delight to award 18 students a new bicycle donated by Deckers. I read some amazing persuasive essays!

Adams Instructional Assistants Receive Recognition from Rotary North
Kim Skipwith, Kelly Brymer and Sonya Williams received certificates of appreciation at yesterday’s Rotary North Luncheon and Meeting for going above and beyond to support our students and school community. They are deeply appreciated!

Thank You!
Thank you for an amazing 2013-2014 school year! I am already looking forward to an even more creative 2014-2015 school year! Please enjoy your summer with lots of reading and family adventures!
